English Expo Event Day
for secondary (middle and high school) students
2026 New Mexico English Expo XXXVI
will be held on
Saturday, February 28, 2026,
8:00AM to 3:00PM
at the Atrisco Heritage Academy High School
10800 Dennis Chavez Blvd, Albuquerque, NM 87121.

The English Expo event will be completely IN-PERSON,
meaning, on competition day all contestants need to be on-site at Atrisco Heritage Academy High School in Albuquerque.

9:00 - 9:30 Judge/Monitor Meeting
9:45 - 10:45 Students report to assigned rooms for Round 1 Competitions
11:00 - 12:00 Students report to assigned rooms for Round 2 Competitions

12:30 - 1:30 Speaking Finals
12:45 - 1:30 Special Events - Spelling Bee and Poetry Slam
1:30 - 1:45 Last Call for Raffles, Pictures, and Vendor Sales
1:45 Clean-up and Report to the Awards Assembly in PAC
2:00 - 3:00 In the PAC - Awards Ceremony​

9:45 - 10:45 Turn in results for Round 1, and Pick up new Round 2 info
11:00 - noon Writing judges can start scoring Round 1 entries
Judge/Monitor Round 2 Contests
Turn in results for round 2
12:15 - 12:45 LUNCH (provided for adults)

Judging continues
Writing judges finalize/submit winners’ lists

Lunch options
Students: DO NOT plan on leaving the campus for lunch as there are no eating facilities nearby.

On Expo Day the Atrisco Heritage Academy DECA will be open to order food. Pre-ordered lunch items can be picked up at the DECA window (the preordering window has closed). On Expo Day the items below (at least) should be available at the AHA DECA window. CASH ONLY! Students and adults can use this option.
For adults, free coffee (in the Courtroom) and lunch will be provided in thanks for their judging, monitoring and volunteering. Lunch will be catered by Gourmet To Go.
Students and adults can also bring their own lunches.
